The Summer Camp is open to Years 5, 6 & 7 players of all abilities who want to spend two days playing hockey, learning new skills, and taking part in games and competitions. It is ideal for players who want more hockey during the summer holidays.
Year 7 players preparing for sports scholarship assessments are especially welcome.
The camp will focus on developing individual skills, game awareness, attacking play, defending, and finishing, with lots of opportunities for players to play in small-sided games and matches.
For players in Year 7 who are considering applying for sports scholarships at senior independent schools, the summer holidays are a great time to build the foundations that assessors look for. Most 13+ scholarship assessments take place in January or February of Year 8.
For players beginning to think about senior school sport scholarships or higher-level hockey opportunities, coaches can provide additional guidance around:
This isn't a separate group, Year 7 players are part of the main camp environment, with coaching designed to develop everyone while giving those with scholarships in mind the depth of detail that makes the difference.
Goalkeepers attending the camp will receive dedicated goalkeeper coaching sessions, as well as taking part in match play and game-based practices across the two days.
Players will be placed into teams for the duration of the camp and will earn points through skills challenges, team games, and matches. The competition runs across both days and finishes with an overall winner receiving a brand new Grays Hockey Stick.
Coaching sessions are designed to be enjoyable, challenging, and supportive. We focus on helping players build confidence, improve decision making, and enjoy playing hockey.
We aim to create a camp environment where players feel comfortable, supported, and able to enjoy their hockey. Effort, teamwork, and positive behaviour are encouraged throughout the camp.
The Summer Camp is one of the main camps of the year and is a great opportunity for players to play lots of hockey, improve their skills, and enjoy two days of hockey with other players.
This camp is open to players in Years 5, 6 and 7.
Year 4 players may be considered with prior approval, but places are limited and priority is given to Years 5 - 7.
Please refer to our Eligibility & Booking Policy for full details.
For the July and September camps, year groups refer to the child's year group at the end of the 2025/26 academic year.
